Digitized Assessment

Also known as: Digitised Assessment, Digital Hiring Assessment, Computer-Based Employment Assessment

A computer-based hiring test used by employers to evaluate candidates' personality, cognition, skills, or judgement. Common formats include personality inventories, gamified cognitive tasks (balloon-inflating risk tests, Flanker attention tasks, arithmetic mini-games), situational-judgement tests, emotional-intelligence picture tests, and AI-scored asynchronous video interviews. Research with disabled workers has found these assessments routinely present accessibility barriers — colour-only cues, dense graphics, strict timing, screen-reader-incompatible game mechanics — and produce scores that reflect test-design choices rather than job-relevant ability.
